Product Lifecycle Experience

Having founded early stage startups and worked for large complex organisations, I have built a deep understanding of the various stages of the product lifecycle from research to optimisation. During my time at Tesco, I worked across a number of products of increasing maturity. I have worked from early stage propositions such as Recommendations (used by around 6% of all customers) to working on maturing features like Favourites (used by about 40% of all customers), complete channels like Repeat Shopping (nearly 70% of all customers) and application wide components such as the Product Tile (used by all customers). I also have extensive experience both creating new products from scratch (as a 2x startup founder) and sunsetting them (such as my work on doing so for Tesco's Google Assistant Voice Companion).

Some of the things I have accomplished:

While at the University of Birmingham, I noticed an opportunity to make it easier for all university students to find things happening around campus. At peak, over 2600 students used my app (Limelight) on a monthly basis
Having experienced extortionate ticketing fees, I spent a year building out and iterating on my second startup (Fundeey) in 2024. This focused on turning events into extraordinary fundraisers by redistributing high ticket fees to good causes. To date, over 1200 events have been created on Fundeey, leading to thousands of pounds being raised for charity, and our first £1000+ revenue event happening in July 2024
Delivered Tesco Clubcard Prices from concept to launch across all digital products, now a £1bn per year revenue proposition
Delivered Priority Slots at the start of the pandemic. Built in just 2 weeks by utilising existing mechanics, it was used by 700k customers at its peak with direct praise from the Tesco Executive team and by extension, the UK Government
Increased the % of basket additions from Recommendations from 1.5% to 7.5%. This was achieved through running 22 A/B tests over a 14 month period, using a test, learn and iterate approach. This concluded in the Recommendation Page in Checkout, delivering £15m in incremental revenue, still the single most successful test ever run (with iterations now totalling £30m in incremental revenue since its introduction in 2019)
Created Tesco's Repeat Shopping strategy, which increased the % of customers returning after 7 days by 20% YoY (38.5% to 46.2%). This was achived by unifying the repeat shopping experience across multiple products. To date this strategy has generated over £100m in incremental revenue

Where you'll see me adding value:

Applying both a founders and scaler mindset, understanding what's required at each stage of a product's lifecycle to achieve success
Assessing where product market fit is possible and where it isn't
Able manage portfolios of products transitioning between various stages in their lifecycles

By bringing my experience in:

Launching 0 to 1 products both with and without resources
Finding product market fit by iterating on products once launched
Scaling products with product market fit to millions of users
