Delivering Business Critical Outcomes

By the time I left Tesco to pursue my startup full time in late 2023, I had run 154 A/B Tests on a near 60% hypothesis success rate, interviewed hundreds of customers, delivered hundreds of millions in incremental revenue, coached dozens of PMs and led strategy for products used by tens of millions.

Some of the things I have accomplished:

Reduced overall customer friction by 5.8% (as measured by key events per pages visited), increasing the % of repeated purchases in basket by 11.9% YoY (61.2% to 68.5%) and increasing the % of customers returning after 7 days by 20% YoY (38.5% to 46.2%) by running 16 A/B Tests with a 62.5% win rate
Created Tesco’s first A/B Holdout Group, increasing incremental revenue by £51m (42.7% of total product organisation contribution and 71% of target for 2022/23) by successfully identifying the relationship between leading customer experience metrics on lagging long term order rate
Increased the % of basket additions from Tesco Recommendations from 1.5% to 7.5%. This was achieved through running 22 A/B tests over a 14 month period, optimising placement and content. This concluded in the Recommendation Page in Checkout, delivering £15m in incremental revenue, still the single most successful test ever run at Tesco (with iterations now totalling £30m in incremental revenue since its introduction in 2019)
Increased the % of total basket additions from Tesco Favourites by 62% (21% to 34%), reduced the Favourites page view to basket add rate by 22% (0.36 to 0.28) and increased incremental revenue by £6.4m by running 9 A/B tests with a 66% win rate
Rebuilt the most technically complex part of Tesco's existing web application supporting £1.7bn revenue per year, 8.5m visits per week and 4.8m interactions per day by simplifying its architecture and reducing the number of product tiles from 26 to 2

Where you'll see me adding value:

Leading business critical propositions accountable to the most pressing business objectives
Helping teams understand how and what to measure to drive business objectives
Articulating progress, risks and trade-offs to deliver on those business objectives

By bringing my experience in:

Leading product strategies that impact millions of users and billions in P&L implications
Converting business objectives into SMART (specific, measurable, actionable, realistic and time-bound) product OKRs
Using a wide variety of primary, secondary and health metrics to measure progress of all work completed against product OKRs
