Prototyping

Once an opportunity area has been identified, I am able to call upon a strong toolbox of technical skills to help evaluate potential solutions. I am well versed in a variety of design methodologies, being able to iterate low-fidelity UX wireframes into high-quality UI prototypes with techniques such as card sorting, questionaires and moderated research sessions. Having also learnt to code in 2021 (going on to build Fundeey - my own full stack events management and discovery platform), I'm also comfortable building out prototypes directly to quickly validate assumptions before production.

Some of the things I have accomplished:

Validated over 70 incorrect internal assumptions about customer preferences using low-fidelity prototyping. This saved large amounts of engineering time that would have been spent building the wrong solutions
Averaged an experimental hypothesis success rate of near 60% across my tenure at Tesco. This was primarily achieved by minimising the number of unproven assumptions
At the peak of individual contribution (before my time as a line manager) at Tesco, I was managing a portfolio of 23 unique solutions through 6 different problem spaces at various stages of the product lifecycle (from early stage ideation to iterating on statistically significant results)

Where you'll see me adding value:

Iterating from problem statements into fully fledged feature rich solutions that are scalable, accessible, and solve meaningful customer problems that drive business outcomes
Minimising time spent working on the wrong things by ensuring we use the minimal amount of resource required to validate our most pressing assumptions
Able to jump in and help with both UI design (through tools such as Figma) and its implementation (through coding software directly)

By bringing my experience in:

A variety of different design methodologies
A deep understanding of their benefits and their opportunity costs
A strong grasp of how to build prototypes that validate assumptions in the most cost effective manner

My achievements in this field would not have been possible without the guidance and knowledge of incredible colleagues. If you're looking to work with other strong product people, I can't recommend these folks enough.

Lucy Valentinova

Lucy Valentinova

I was lucky enough to work with Lucy during my time as the product manager for Repeat Shopping. Lucy was instrumental in encouraging design teams to move away from working in silos and to embrace a more iterative, colloborative and assumption led approach to design thinking.

Jo Lambert

Jo Lambert (UX Design)

Jo Lambert

Jo and I worked together solving navigation for the Tesco Grocery and Clubcard App. This was an incredibly high profile and challenging project due to the impact of navigation on various key propositions. Jo was steadfast in ensuring we always led with data, focusing on the assumptions we had rather than just listening to the loudest voice in the room.
